JENNIFER

On a Whim...The name says it all.

I take away from my yoga a philosophy of start anywhere at any pace its always changing and evolving. Use our best special steps forward and quality of action to achieve steadiness and ease, incorporating all parts of ourselves, and always being present in the journey...…bringing a blend of pranayama, pratyhara, meditation, shtira and sukham to my practice, life, classes and business.

I opened the doors teaching one class of yoga a week, doing occasional thai yoga massage and holding an artisan market on the weekends in high season.  Since then we have grown with local and guest teachers, acro yoga workshops, 4 classes of yoga a week in 3 different languages and styles.
Hatha, Astanga, Aerial, and Acro Yoga, Pilates, gymnastics, thai massage, reiki, aromatherapy and bullet journaling are the inspirations.
The foundations I always build on are honesty, trust and respect.

What I am focused on for this 2018?
Listen
Acro yoga is all about communication.....and a part is listening....do we only listen with our ears?  What about our bodies or other senses?  Acro has been a great reconnection for me, with my body in its more athletic form, using more than just muscle to achieve new heights.
Educate
I have always liked "lead by example" myself.  So I try to incorporate it with educate this year.  I have already taken a workshop on Bach Flower Remedies in Spanish and a second Acro Yoga Workshop.  I have started a book club and will try to find at least one or 2 workshops to teach this year.  I plan to take a first aid or lifeguard course in Spanish as well.
Adventure
My life is an adventure.  I am currently on a Nicaraguan journey having just acquired my residency that is valid for 5 years.  This year I want to go to Corn Islands and find a planner conference to attend.
Play
has become a powerful word in my vocabulary in the last year.  It provides an incredible balance to being an adult and embraces my inner child. Acro yoga and my bullet journal are adult expressions of gymnastics and coloring and the way they make me smile is a feeling I want to experience always.

My mission this year is to L.E.A.P. into......everything that resonates with me......

Week 2: Monday-Thursday

Day 5:  NO spending day.  It was a quiet Monday. Day 6:  I spent approx $6.00 to fill a prescription. I should probably update you on another goal I had for this year.  I have been trying to make it to the gym twice a week since January.  It doesn't seem like a big goal but some weeks it is tough. Truthfully I haven't made it even once in the last  two weeks but I got back on track today with a bootcamp class at the YMCA I go to.  Although I am not noticing much difference in my weight or how I look I have noticed a substantial difference in how I feel......GREAT!  I am also hoping it will translate into an improved softball season. I may never be in the shape I was at 20 again but I can certainly try and be closer than I am now. Today was also lunch date day.....my coworker brought pulled pork sandwiches with carrot stick and cherry tomatoes.  She also made chocolate peanut butter squares....ummm delicious.  I will have to get that ...

My Cup O Tea

Over the years I have become a fan of tea.  My favourites are non-caffeine.  Green Teas, herbal teas and rooibus.  Almost any loose leaf tea will do.  I once got chamomile tea from a friends parents and it was really just a whole baggie of chamomile flowers.....it was from a place in Sarnia, Ontario but I am not sure exactly where.  It just seems so much fresher when you can recognize it by sight.... In June while on vacation I found a tea store selling hand tied leaves.  What a fantastic aroma of jasmine.  It is the Madame Butterfly tea by Capital Teas (www.capitalteas.com).  It was very expensive and I just couldn't afford it but they certainly had lots of great teas. My most recent vacation in Florida found me in the Spice and Tea Exchange (www.spiceandtea.com) where I purchased a small bag of loose leaf hazelnut cookie tea.  Ceylon black base so not my usual herbal but wonderful smell and tastes very rich.  An enjoyable tea....
