Bienvenidos a 2016!

A bit of an update is in order here.  Seems I missed the beginning of 2015, my word and most of the year in blog......I really took that 2014 word adventure to heart.  I have been in Nicaragua for a year and 2 months and everyday has been a new adventure and learning curve.  Now I move on to 2016......

My word for this year is balance.  In every aspect of my life I want to apply balance.  The last year has found me focusing on running a restaurant and helping to build a hotelito, but this year I want to put everything in its place taking more time for me and the projects I have started.  I want to focus more on the "artesenal mercadito" I am building, offering thai yoga massage as well as my yoga and pilates teaching.   I also want to use balance as a jumping off point for my personal upcoming year in yoga.

This year I am going to make a goal that hopefully others will want to follow with me.......  I am going to take one yoga pose that is advanced and work each day on the poses that will allow me to do the pose I have chosen monthly.....The list is as follows but not in order yet.
  • dolphin
  • handstand
  • peacock
  • firefly
  • lotus
  • wheel
  • scorpion
  • splits
  • bow
  • dancer
So far I have 10 poses for the 12 months....I will  leave the other 2 as wild card poses during the year.  Do you have an idea or favorite for the other 2 i could work on?

My Cup O Tea

Over the years I have become a fan of tea.  My favourites are non-caffeine.  Green Teas, herbal teas and rooibus.  Almost any loose leaf tea will do.  I once got chamomile tea from a friends parents and it was really just a whole baggie of chamomile flowers.....it was from a place in Sarnia, Ontario but I am not sure exactly where.  It just seems so much fresher when you can recognize it by sight.... In June while on vacation I found a tea store selling hand tied leaves.  What a fantastic aroma of jasmine.  It is the Madame Butterfly tea by Capital Teas (www.capitalteas.com).  It was very expensive and I just couldn't afford it but they certainly had lots of great teas. My most recent vacation in Florida found me in the Spice and Tea Exchange (www.spiceandtea.com) where I purchased a small bag of loose leaf hazelnut cookie tea.  Ceylon black base so not my usual herbal but wonderful smell and tastes very rich.  An enjoyable tea....

Read and read again!

Energy Healing: The Essentials of Self Care This one resonated with me. I could hardly put it down and that is unusual for me with a book in this genre. It all started for me on page 10 with a great composite view of different energy anatomies that had been explained in the preceding pages. For me, it really brought together the Chinese medicine, Thai massage, chakras and aura system in relation to each other. The healing stories through opening our connections to the energy fields of the universe were motivating and interesting to read. The first exercise I tried was the first one in the book "toe tapping". It's a pretty simple exercise so following the instructions was easy. I only kept it up for about a week but I believe I did start to feel benefits. I like to meditate and I am always looking for new ideas. This book provided. I still want to try the metta meditation and many of the other meditations that are throughout the book. I still have a numb...
