2017: Always Moving Toward My Happiness

Happy New Year!!

I am excited for another year of the artisan market,300 hours yoga teacher training, having more fluent Spanish, the community garden project, composting project, teaching my Wednesday morning yoga class, working on my pool, and apartment.....etc

I have a very long list of things to live for and work towards and each day I move forward gets me just a little closer to everything I came to Nicaragua to do.

I am a little bit late getting my News Year entry out because I have been working on this........

and.......the huerto comunitario!!!

Every Friday since October or November now we have been toiling away getting dirty outside my back gate.  My backyard backs onto one of the baseball fields in town and every yard has the equivalent of a boulevard.  For the most part they are not well taken care of....but thanks to help from La Casa Verde, Abonatura and lots of volunteers we are slowly moving around the baseball field building vegetable, fruit and flower gardens in public spaces.  This was one of the last Fridays in December 2016 and the progress we made in a short time.  It really is true that many hands make light work.

How did I do with last years goals and aspirations?

I taught class 32 weeks this year....I got through a good portion of the list of poses that I had chosen for each month and blogged about them for most of the year.  A hundred percent better than the previous year.  Thumbs up me!!!

My adventures continue and I am excited to be working on a number of projects this year on my own and as part of a team.

I am not sure what my plan is for this year....actually now that I say that I think I do know.  I am not very good with discipline.  I am self-employed here and it has been a big change from the corporate world.  All good changes I have to say but definitely harder to be motivated to stick to a schedule when you are the boss and there is a beer with your name on it at the nearest bar.  So this year I am going to work on discipline in all the areas of my life...being on time...studying...and any other area that requires discipline.

Heres to 2017....may it be my best and most enlightened year yet....

My Cup O Tea

Over the years I have become a fan of tea.  My favourites are non-caffeine.  Green Teas, herbal teas and rooibus.  Almost any loose leaf tea will do.  I once got chamomile tea from a friends parents and it was really just a whole baggie of chamomile flowers.....it was from a place in Sarnia, Ontario but I am not sure exactly where.  It just seems so much fresher when you can recognize it by sight.... In June while on vacation I found a tea store selling hand tied leaves.  What a fantastic aroma of jasmine.  It is the Madame Butterfly tea by Capital Teas (www.capitalteas.com).  It was very expensive and I just couldn't afford it but they certainly had lots of great teas. My most recent vacation in Florida found me in the Spice and Tea Exchange (www.spiceandtea.com) where I purchased a small bag of loose leaf hazelnut cookie tea.  Ceylon black base so not my usual herbal but wonderful smell and tastes very rich.  An enjoyable tea....

Read and read again!

Energy Healing: The Essentials of Self Care This one resonated with me. I could hardly put it down and that is unusual for me with a book in this genre. It all started for me on page 10 with a great composite view of different energy anatomies that had been explained in the preceding pages. For me, it really brought together the Chinese medicine, Thai massage, chakras and aura system in relation to each other. The healing stories through opening our connections to the energy fields of the universe were motivating and interesting to read. The first exercise I tried was the first one in the book "toe tapping". It's a pretty simple exercise so following the instructions was easy. I only kept it up for about a week but I believe I did start to feel benefits. I like to meditate and I am always looking for new ideas. This book provided. I still want to try the metta meditation and many of the other meditations that are throughout the book. I still have a numb...
