3 Ways Wellness is a Delicate Balance

Everyone tells us about diet and exercise and I agree that's good for us, but i also believe they're part of a delicate scale of balances that include so many other factors.

Nutrition is very important..I won't call it diet because it's not about restricting or dieting at all.  It's about eating foods that fuel your body. We are all different. I am lactose intolerent and overtime that has become worse.  I also have trouble with carbonated drinks making me gassy.  On the other side my body loves a good bone broth and I always feel lighter and healthier and comforted immediately.  As much as what you eat is important it is also important to eat the things that nourish your body specifically.  Craving sugary sweets is not intuition but imbalance.  Learn to let your intuition guide you to finding your best nourished self.

Exercise and levels of exercise are different for everyone and their metabolism.  We all need exercise but we all need different levels of exercise at different times of our day, and parts of our life.  This is where some ayurveda comes in handy..pitta tend to like high intensity exercise, kapha don't like exercise.  Astanga yoga is a pitta type yoga whereas restorative is more kapha style.  I find that sun salutations make me angry, my body doesn't like heat like that..whereas I know others who swear by sun salutations.  Don't forget we can also categorize by cardio, weights, flexibilty and endurance.  The important part is a balanced program that challenges your body.

Self care is up there on my list of things that help our overall life balance.  Whatever your self care is, its great, keep doing it. Some of my favorites are spa baths, pedicures and massage but it doesnt have to be so big.  It could be your best comfy chair and a book.  It's the things you do for you that make you sigh with peace.  Its the things that feel refreshing like REIKI. Creative things like painting or drawing, or it could even be musical. The choices are endless so if you aren't doing self care you should be! Its as easy as doing your favorite hobby!

A good combination of things on this list will be a great start to creating balance in your life and by association, your body, mind and soul.  It will be the beginning of the end of dis-ease.  Start today?...not sure where to start?...contact me!

My Cup O Tea

Over the years I have become a fan of tea.  My favourites are non-caffeine.  Green Teas, herbal teas and rooibus.  Almost any loose leaf tea will do.  I once got chamomile tea from a friends parents and it was really just a whole baggie of chamomile flowers.....it was from a place in Sarnia, Ontario but I am not sure exactly where.  It just seems so much fresher when you can recognize it by sight.... In June while on vacation I found a tea store selling hand tied leaves.  What a fantastic aroma of jasmine.  It is the Madame Butterfly tea by Capital Teas (www.capitalteas.com).  It was very expensive and I just couldn't afford it but they certainly had lots of great teas. My most recent vacation in Florida found me in the Spice and Tea Exchange (www.spiceandtea.com) where I purchased a small bag of loose leaf hazelnut cookie tea.  Ceylon black base so not my usual herbal but wonderful smell and tastes very rich.  An enjoyable tea....

Read and read again!

Energy Healing: The Essentials of Self Care This one resonated with me. I could hardly put it down and that is unusual for me with a book in this genre. It all started for me on page 10 with a great composite view of different energy anatomies that had been explained in the preceding pages. For me, it really brought together the Chinese medicine, Thai massage, chakras and aura system in relation to each other. The healing stories through opening our connections to the energy fields of the universe were motivating and interesting to read. The first exercise I tried was the first one in the book "toe tapping". It's a pretty simple exercise so following the instructions was easy. I only kept it up for about a week but I believe I did start to feel benefits. I like to meditate and I am always looking for new ideas. This book provided. I still want to try the metta meditation and many of the other meditations that are throughout the book. I still have a numb...
